Stanley Matsunaka

Stanley “Stan” Matsunaka brings a wealth of experience in litigation and public service to Anzen Legal Group. With a legal career spanning over four decades, Stan is a highly respected attorney in Colorado, known for his dedication to resolving complex legal disputes. His practice, which emphasizes litigation, includes personal injury, estate planning, commercial and real estate law, construction disputes, and family law. Stan has successfully represented clients in jury trials, court proceedings, arbitration hearings, and mediation sessions, consistently delivering favorable outcomes for his clients.

A former Colorado State Senator and Senate President, Stan has also made a significant legislative impact. During his tenure, he navigated a politically divided government to pass landmark legislation on education, healthcare, transportation, and budget reforms. Among his most notable achievements are negotiating a $30 billion transportation funding package and securing K-12 education funding under Amendment 23.

Stan holds a Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Colorado State University. He has been recognized for his exemplary legal service and leadership, receiving numerous “Legislator of the Year” awards and being named Outstanding Young Lawyer of Larimer County.

Stan is licensed to practice in all courts in Colorado, the U.S. District Court of Colorado, the 10th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Court of Claims. He remains active in his community, having served on several local boards and committees, and as an elder and deacon at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. While Stan’s primary focus is litigation, his leadership and expertise continue to influence a broad range of legal and civic matters.

In his spare time, Stan enjoys coaching high school sports and participating in community events. He is a member of the Colorado Bar Association, Larimer County Bar Association, and the Asian Pacific Bar Association.
